GlobalGiving's online marketplace allows donors to discover and fund well-vetted, grassroots projects that appeal to their specific interests. GlobalGiving offers projects around the world, in a variety of areas ranging from education and health care to economic development and the environment. Most of the projects on GlobalGiving are in the developing world where a small amount of money can go a long way.
History
Founded by two former World Bank executives, GlobalGiving provides a new, more direct way for individuals and organisations to support high-impact development projects around the world. Conceived as a kind of eBay for international charitable giving, it creates a direct connection between projects and donors, providing projects with direct access to international donors and donors with a much greater sense of involvement and transparency.
In 2008 GlobalGiving.co.uk was launched to give UK donors access to the same exciting opportunities. As a registered UK charity, GlobalGiving.co.uk will give donors the opportunity to directly support their chosen international development projects and to track the impact of their donations. GlobalGiving.co.uk also claims Gift Aid for all donations from UK taxpayers.
