Teach beekeeping to 58 young people in The Gambia Gambia, The, Economic Development This project provides training and facilities for 58 young unemployed in The Gambia to become beekeepers and sell honey to hotels. It also helps protect the African honey bee.

Give 180 young people beekeeping skills in Jamaica Jamaica, Economic Development This project provides training for 180 young unemployed people to become beekeepers and sell honey products to the tourism industry in Jamaica. It also helps protect the local honey bee.

Teach 20 school children beekeeping in Tobago Trinidad and Tobago, Education This project provides education for 20 secondary school children to become beekeepers and sell honey products to the tourism industry in Tobago. It also helps protect the local honey bee.

Help train 11 young women in beekeeping in Mexico Mexico, Environment This project provides training and facilities for 11 Mayan women in Mexico to become beekeepers and sell honey to hotels in Cancun. It also helps protect the endangered Melipona Becheii bee.

Creating fair employment opportunities for poor communities is an essential part of our work. We're helping people in Mexico, The Gambia, Tobago and Jamaica create new livelihoods through bee keeping and honey production; selling honey to local shops and hotels for tourists. This is giving fresh hope for the future, for them and their families.

It's also helping to conserve honey bees, whose numbers are in serious decline worldwide. Honey bees play a vital role in pollinating plants for food and other crops. They also have an important environmental role, pollinating wild plants which birds and wild animals rely on for seeds and fruits. A fundamental part of our whole eco system!
