Project Vetting

GlobalGiving projects go through different stages of vetting in order to ensure they are charitable in nature and have a social impact.

Many projects on the GlobalGiving website come from our project sponsors: respected organisations - of all types and sizes - based in the UK and overseas. These project sponsors provide their own checks on the projects, including on the project involved, financial audits and data collection from appropriate experts. GlobalGiving reviews these checks and procedures as appropriate.

GlobalGiving then collects further documentation - such as organisation and legal documents, financial records, senior staff lists and programme materials - to validate the organisation that is actually running the project. (In many cases the project sponsor and the organisation running the project are actually the same).

Finally, GlobalGiving spends time working through the project details and assessing the final project description with the project organisation before the project is put up live on the site.

Each project partner is then encouraged to submit quarterly progress updates on GlobalGiving.co.uk, including the activities, accomplishments and results of the project so far. These reports are available for donors to access so they can see how their donation is being used and what progress has been made. This creates a dynamic and meaningful relationship between projects and donors.
