-Progress of our project:
In post conflict country, as Democratic Republic of Congo, children and teens are in lack of skills. They have not been at school. Many of them are ex soldiers. In Birambizo city for example, in 100 kilometers from Goma, 80 % of teenagers out of school, selected by Children’s Voice for vocational training, do not know to read or to write. There are many from street and from armed militias. They are vulnerable, abused and neglected and exposed to delinquency.
- Youth education program is a vocational training program to skill youth ages from 14 to 17 years old who are out of school. They do it in eight months of training and internship.
- Story of beneficiary:
“My life fell over when I got pregnant without to know the father of my baby. To be in children’s Voice center is a new hope to me. I have been trained in fixing hair. I have a new life. I work in hair salon. I am happy to hand my life with my daughter. Last month I got 200 USD from my work. Every month I save 20$ in cooperative for the future. To be raped is not any more a fatal to me. This is the past. What is important to me is the new life I have. I like my life and love my baby so much”.
- Accomplishments and impact:
Every year, More than 150 teens are skilled in vocational training in sewing, carpentry, mechanic, and hairstyle. We provide to all health care and a psychological assistance. .
Up to 31st January 2014, we have raised 4228 usd in 124 donations. We paid training material, accessories and equipments maintenance and paid trainers.
- Upcoming or past events
In post conflict country as Democratic Republic of Congo, many children are living out of school. Many of them have been used in armed conflict, other work in mineral site. Some are abused and neglected and have little or no literacy skills. Those who are welcomed in the centers training get some education, protection and prepared for a best future in the community.

- Progress of our project:
To make sure the best possible chance for success, Children’s Voice continues to supervise and support quick school program and vocational training to children affected by war in eastern of Democratic Republic of Congo. Workshop of hair styling and making clothes are the two programs in which most of girls are interested especially girls-mothers. They are prepared to start own small business of salon and tailor workshop. They are trained in saving money by joining village saving association.
- Story of beneficiaries:
Salama, 17 years old is one of several girls affected and growing up in war torn villages in eastern Congo. She was pregnant when she arrived at Children’s Voice center. “After training in making clothes. I am now happy to start my own tailor workshop. I have skills enough to struggle and to get a better life for my child and me. I thank all the persons who contribute to make change in my life”.

Every year, this project improves community resilience, wellbeing and dignity of vulnerable war orphaned and former child soldiers.
- Upcoming or past events
To date, the project is 25% of the way to reaching the funding goal of $16,033, and we are so grateful for the generous contributions that have been made so far. Before we are able to fully implement this program, however, we still have more fundraising to complete! The sooner we raise the total amount, the sooner we can begin helping more youth war affected and to help them to create opportunity, self-sufficiency and freedom for a best future.

Progress of our project:
Several assessments conducted in the eastern of Democratic Republic of Congo, have revealed that life has continued to be especially difficult for the displaced children, separated children and to a higher extent those who have lost their parents during the war or during forced population movement. Many children have been soldiers and have not any support to prepare their skills for a better future.
This project facilitates the war orphaned children and former child soldiers in Goma to improve their wellbeing, to access social services such as medical, legal and psycho social support. It provides vocational trainings on sewing, carpentry, welding, motor mechanics, building, cookery and computer literacy. Upon graduation, beneficiaries get a start-up capital so as to enable them to run Small Scale Enterprises in their communities.
- Story of beneficiaries:
Sadiki is one of ex child soldiers in vocational training at Bujovu children’s Voice center. He is 16 years old. He has finished the training in “cutting and fixing hair:
“ After my training at Children’s Voice center, I got some material. Now I work in my own workshop. I am running my own business. We are five in this Saloon 2 boys and one 2 girls and myself. We are happy to be busy and get economic support from yourself. We can not go anymore in the bush to Mai Mai.”
A new school program started in September with 200 other children: 115 girls and 85 boys in sewing and fixing hair.
Many children are living on the street because of the political, economic and social problems. They are abused and neglected and have little or no literacy skills, now they will have education and protection from street violence. Militias recruit many of them.
