The challenge is to raise £2,000 for a health or education project through GlobalGiving.co.uk within a 30 day period, 15th July to 14th August 2009, in order to benefit from promotional featuring on GlobalGiving.co.uk and with corporate partners.

In addition, the two organisations that meet the above threshold and raise the most money will receive additional monetary rewards: £1,000 for the first place winner and £500 for the second place winner. The project that generates the most support in terms of number of donors will also receive a bonus of £250.

GlobalGiving is a global marketplace for philanthropy that helps donors support causes they are passionate about. Using its public website, GlobalGiving connects donors to more than 500 community based projects worldwide. The site hosts projects which range in topic from education and the environment to healthcare and human rights in more than 69 countries.

Over the past 5 years, more than 600 organizations have raised over $18 million using GlobalGiving's website in the US. GlobalGiving.co.uk launched in the UK in September 2008 to give the same opportunity for UK donors and charities to benefit from the GlobalGiving giving experience.
