On March 11, 2011 a devastating earthquake and tsunami struck the northeastern coast of Japan. In addition to the immediate devastation of the natural disaster, nuclear reactors located in the Fukushima region of Japan were severely damaged and continue to release radiation into the environment. Many have reached out to help the people of Japan in this time of need. The week of May 2-8 has been selected to coincide with the Japanese holiday celebration of Golden Week.
