Send Deserving Children to school in Rural Nepal
More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesTwo-thirds of Nepal's population is illiterate; only 22% of the girls are literate. Schools in villages are grim with a high dropout rate. Schools don't have sufficient teachers; the ones they have are poorly trained, and schools lack educational materials. School-aged children migrate to urban areas to work as domestic servants or laborers. NYF provides scholarships to students because of poverty, to female students, to those from a low caste community, and those who are physically disabled. ActivitiesThe Nepal Youth Foundation is changing the future. NYF improves and builds schools, trains the teachers, provides education materials, and pays the scholarships for children who would otherwise not have the means to attend school. NYF caters to the most disadvantaged. Funding InformationTotal Funding Received to Date: £6,398 Additional DocumentationThis project has provided additional documentation in a Microsoft Word file (projdoc.doc). ResourcesWhy this Project is ImportantPotential Long Term ImpactHelp eliminate poverty; an education is especially important to girls. Once educated women practice birth control, can take better care of their families, and will educate their own children. Education is the only hope for Nepali children who would otherwise remain illiterate and stuck in an endless cycle of poverty. Project Message
