A girl sleeping in the bidi-rolling factory Until the project set up creches and pre-school facilities, infants and children had to spend all day in the toxic enclosed atmosphere of the factories, which gave them bad health and kept them out of education. Many would start helping their mothers as soon as they are big enough. Deepali and Child Parliament at Global Action Week During this week, activities for children are organised on a particular theme to give broader publicity. Last year's theme was Education for All and Deepali’s Child Parliament performed a street play. Deepali received a prize for the best performer.
