More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

Less than 1 out of every 1000 rural girls graduates high school in Mozambique. The program gives scholarships, school materials, food, shelter and emotional support given by a social worker in a boarding school environment annexed to the Magude High school, where the girls, all between 13 and 17 years, enter High School. The girls need another house to provide better after-school services. Now it is third year, the yearly operating costs have increased to support 60 girls who attend now school

Activities

Addressing the complex reasons girls leave school, scholarships counter poverty, social workers provide support, protection against sexual abuse, and accountability, and after-school programs give girls space to study away from pressures at home.
