Clean Water For Sudanese War Refugees
More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesSudan’s ongoing civil wars have chased two million people from Darfur south to Khartoum, the capital, where they struggle to survive in informal settlements with no access to public services. In Dar al-Salaam al-Rabwa, 40 kilometers from Khartoum, 35,000 residents suffer cholera, diarrhea and other diseases resulting from insufficient clean water. Only one of five water stations is operational, and the entire community relies on unsanitary water deliveries by donkey cart. ActivitiesNEF’s project first will connect the community’s NEF-run health center and two NEF-supported schools directly to a clean water supply. We will then repair three water stations, connect an additional school and install hand pumps and filtration system.
