Mission

The Near East Foundation (NEF) catalyzes social and economic development in impoverished communities throughout the Middle East and Africa. Guided by our tripartite principle of "knowledge, voice, and enterprise," we work with members of the region's most vulnerable populations--among them women, unemployed youth, and urban slum-dwellers--to identify and implement sustainable solutions to entrenched poverty and lack of opportunity.

Programs

On an annual budget of approximately $6 million, NEF employs a field staff of over 85 experienced development professionals (all working in their countries of origin) and currently maintains programs in Egypt, Jordan, Mali, Morocco, Palestine, Armenia and Sudan. Dr. Khaled Gafar Yagoub has been a Health Program Coordinator & Field Office Medical Doctor for the Near East foundation (NEF) in Sudan since 2006. Prior to working at NEF, Dr. Yagoub practiced medicine at the Ban Gadeed Teaching Hospital.
