More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

In many countries, there is a high degree of stigma attached to blind and visually impaired people. In their presence, many of us do not know how to react. This project will address that lack of understanding and knowledge about blindness through education and advocacy.

Activities

PhotoVoice will train three blind or partially sighted facilitators who will then go to China to train other non-sighted people in China to take good-quality photographs. Their images will be used to in advocacy on blind and disability rights

Potential Long Term Impact

It will help tackle the fact that many blind and partially sighted people do not work - often because employers think they can't. Everybody has something to contribute; no-one should be prevented from leading fulfilling lives through discrimination.
