Project Needs and Beneficiaries

In Addis Ababa's poorest slums there is no running water and no sewerage system meaning that waste is left to rot in the streets. Ethiopiaid's partner FIDO aims to improve the level of sanitation and hygiene in the slums which will reduce hygiene related diseases and improve the standards of living for the thousands of people who have no choice but to live there.

Activities

This project will build a communal toilet block with a shower in the slum to help improve sanitation and hygiene. This is one of a number of projects run by FIDO in this slum which together aim to improve living standards for the whole population.

Community Latrines

In the last year your donations have paid for the construction of community latrines and housing developments so that things like running water and a non-leaky roofs are no longer luxuries for the people of Addis Ababa. Ethiopiaid funds also paid for a second hand truck which is now being used to transport building materials further afield as before they could only use man power and mules.
