More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesAbout 50% of children in government schools across the country, do not know basic reading, writing and arithmetic even after 4 years of schooling. Read India, currently active in 21 Indian states, is aimed at achieving reading and arithmetic proficiency for all children in the country within and outside the school system. This learning campaign will be executed with the help of school teachers, Pratham trained volunteers, and the government school system in every state. ActivitiesThe campaign proposes to introduce daily period for reading and arithmetic in school by teachers, volunteers will train mothers to be involved with their child's education. States will have a Core Group at state capital & volunteers at village level. Funding InformationThis project has been retired and is no longer accepting donations.
