Teach beekeeping to 58 young people in The Gambia
More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesThe project helps to protect the native African honey bee, essential to food crop pollination and the overall ecological balance in The Gambia. The project is also helping Sifoe Kafo community farm to extend their bee keeping and sell honey to hotels, providing extra income opportunities. 67% of the farmers are women and this extra income is offering greater security and a brighter future, to them and their families. ActivitiesBuilding of bee boxes, training and capacity building of women (training in hive construction, site selection, harvesting, honey & wax processing, packaging, marketing, business skills and value-added production) and planting of flora fauna.
