Mission

EJF is an environmental and human rights charity that empowers local communities in the developing world to protect their own environment. EJF tackles critical problems that are often ignored bringing beneficial social and environmental change to some of the world’s largest industries such as cotton and illegal pirate fishing.

Programs

White Gold - Working to end forced child and adult labour and change water management practices in Uzbekistan. Pesticides - Calling for a global ban on highly hazardous toxic pesticides, notably endosulfan. Environmental Refugees - Highlighting the impact of climate change on some of the world's poorest communities. Global Advocacy Training Centre - to increase training of partners and enable them to access international media, policy makers, consumers and corporate bodies.

Personnel Overview

Steve Trent - Executive Director
Steve Trent is one of the founding members of EJF and has twenty years experience in providing training as well as investigating, exposing and resolving environmental abuses and has worked in over 40 countries around the globe.

Duncan Copeland - Campaigner
Duncan has been working as a campaigner for EJF since 2006. He has over 7 years of successful campaign, field investigation and development program experience in Africa, Asia, Europe, North and South America, and is currently the lead campaigner and trainer on EJF’s Pirate Fishing program. He is also an experienced yachtsman.

James Levelle - Film Maker
James has been making documentary films for 4 years. Now working largely for EJF, James has also provided film and edit training to EJF’s grassroots partners, empowering them with the skills they need to document and expose compelling local evidence of environmental destruction and human suffering. Most recently James provided the 'Training for Trainers programme in Vietnam in 2008.
