More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

This project will help 900 children from a poor rural community in Southern Rwanda to achieve educational excellence against national statistics that show only; 1 in 3 children complete primary education; 1 in 14 children attend secondary school; 3% of the population make it to university. After two years the number of children from the school entering secondary education has doubled, with 32% of final year children achieving secondary school entry in 2009.

Activities

Provide curriculum books, teacher training and HIV educational trips to a local hospital. Extend schools meals programme to pupils in final four years of primary school (P3, P4, P5 & P6).

Our founding principle is "Education Today for Zero Aid Tomorrow". The projects we put in place are intended to increase the potential for the 900 children we work with to break out of the poverty cycle.

RSVP would like to thank everyone who has supported us in this challenge. We didn't make the cut this time but we are very encouraged to receive 21 donations towards our work with children in Rwanda.

The £194 raised will fully fund our holiday revision classes in 2010, giving those children who have made it to secondary school a greater chance of completing secondary education and hopefully continuing to university or vocational training.
