More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

To break the cycle of poverty the "Housing Project IZZI" starts its activity with the construction of 2 decent massive selfmade familyhouses. 2 families in need have been selected by the commitee of the "Housing Project IZZI". They get a loan from the "Housing Project IZZI" for the building materials which they have to repay in small monthly rates. The unskilled work has to be done and the skilled bricklayer as assistent has to be payed by the future homeowner family.

Activities

1. Identification of the building plot, 2. Production of cementstabilized compressed earthblocks (laterite), 3. Platform as foundation, 4. Walls are constructed by the future houseowner with the help of a skilled bricklayer, 5. Roof, windows, doors.

Why this Project is Important

Potential Long Term Impact

If this project succeeds these 2 familyhouses are the beginning of a program for the construction of about 2 000 homes for low-income families in need in the area of Igbeagu-Izzi.

Project Message

"Many people in Igbeagu-Izzi have substandard housing. There is no access to loans to build a decent house. Therefore the "Housing Project IZZI" will be a big help for many families."
- John Ndugo, Chief John Ndugo is the General Manager.
