Reading Village
Mission
Our mission is to break the cycle of illiteracy in Guatemala. Our vision is of a proud and thriving Guatemala where all children grow up able to realize their full potential. We are transforming the lives of Guatemalan youth by creating access to books, developing the ability to read and to think critically and imaginatively -- fundamentals in the full development of the world's children.
Programs
We distribute children's storybooks to schools, libraries and orphanages throughout Guatemala, and we train teens to be dynamic reading promoters in their communities. In return, these teens receive leadership development training and scholarships to stay in school. It is our goal to develop reading promoters in communities throughout Guatemala.
