Permanent Clean Water for a Community in Kenya
More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesUvanni community live in a semi arid area where water is in short supply. Women and children spend hours a day collecting water from far away, thus having no time for education, housekeeping and generating income. 46 associated community members have approached Excellent for support to build a sand dam: it will capture the seasonal rain and filter it through the river sand. This will positively impact the wider community of 9,600 people by providing year-round clean water for at least 30 years ActivitiesThe community gets ownership of the project: They will collect the sand and stones needed, build the dam & terrace the land next to the site in order to grow food. Excellent Development will provide technical support, cement and monitor the progress.
