Standing Committee of Tamil Speaking People (SCOT)

Mission

Our activities have aimed to address the changing and urgent needs of our people and fund projects that are appropriate at that time to alleviate the hardships faced. In the early days, the focus was on poverty alleviation and assistance to victims of violence & natural disasters (Tsunami). More recently help the victims of the current WAR has been a priority. In this general context, our mission is to help and assistance to some of the most disadvantaged people of the NorthEast of Sri Lanka.

Programs

SCOT has struggled to meet the requests on behalf of vulnerable Tamils in Sri Lanka whose lives have been disrupted and displaced by war. Many of the families there have lost their livelihood and the breadwinner. Health of the children and their education has been a continuing priority for SCOT. SCOT has financially helped many organizations that are taking good care of children including orphaned and disabled children in the North and East of Sri Lanka.
