Bringing Digital Inclusion to Amazonian Residents
More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesThe majority of Pará's 7 million live in extreme poverty without adequate health and social services, and amidst violence and drug trafficking. There are also problems of physical and social isolation, as some communities live deep in the Amazon in areas accessible only by plane or boat. CDI-Pará operates 36 technology and civic education centers throughout the state, including locations in many rural and underserved areas, where students learn IT, job, and community problem-solving skills. ActivitiesCDI-Pará has 36 centers each serving almost 250 students annually. Students use IT as a tool to qualify for higher-paying jobs, and for solving local community problems primarily facing youth, such as drugs, prostitution, and economic isolation.
