Transform Lives of African Youth by Making Films
More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesKenya is going through a challenging transition. In August 2010, Kenya got a new constitution. Space is opening up for more freedom of expression. Yet the voices of the slum youth are not heard. Following the December 2007 general election, there was widespread violence, including in the slums. The next election is scheduled for December 2012. Slum youth are working for peace. They want to tell and share their stories. They need your support to get their voices heard using video technology. ActivitiesWorking with talented slum youth, Hot Sun Foundation opens up the creative vent. At Kibera Film School youth are trained in all aspects of film making - scriptwriting, casting, acting, camera, sound, editing, marketing and distribution. Trainees film their stories and local events, share their films and get feedback at community screenings. Kibera Film School trainees inspire youth living in slums to tell their stories and work for peace and reconciliation.
