Kurdish Woman Stands Trial. Diyabakir, Ed Kashi
Yıldız Alpdoğan, a 21 year old student of Izmir Higher Nursing School, was accused of participating in the Kurdish struggle by nursing PKK guerillas in the country side outside Cizre in South-east Turkey. She was convicted and sentenced to 12 years and 6 months in jail.

Saturday Mothers
These mothers held a vigil in Istanbul every Saturday for over 3 years for sons, daughters, fathers and brothers last seen in the hands of the security forces.

KHRP and the Kurdish Women's Project, London
This training session entitled ‘Gender and Human Rights: Enforcing the Charter’ introduced members of the Kurdish Women’s Project to international mechanisms for protecting human rights, including the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), the International Covenant on Civil & political Rights (ICCPR), & the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).

KHRP carries a human rights training seminar which focuses on introducing the CEDAW Convention, explaining its historical development, its ambit, the rights it protects and the ways in which it can be used to effect real change in the legislative, political and administrative system of Turkey. Its aim was to ‘demystify’ the Convention, breaking it down from a seemingly distant and irrelevant mechanism to establish its relevance at the grassroots level.
