Building Secure Communities in the Western Balkans
More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesCommunity insecurity, whether real or perceived, is a major source of tension and mistrust between various ethnic groups in the Western Balkans. In order to build secure communities, this project aims to tackle a range of 'soft' security problems, including vandalism, petty crime and neglected public spaces, by mobilizing and empowering local communities. The project will therefore benefit various groups from all levels of society, with a particular emphasis on traditionally marginalised areas. Activities1) Build widespread support 2) Community assesses security problems 3) Action plans to address identified concerns 4) Develop community security plans 5) Implement security-related activities 6) Promote successes and exchange best practices.
