More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesAlready the poorest nation in the Americas, Haiti has been hit by a series of disasters recently and was battered by hurricanes in 2008. 70% of the population lives on less than 2 dollars a day and half of its 8.5 million people are unemployed. Official figures show food insecurity affects more than a quarter of the population, some 1.9 million people, women and children the worst affected. The Food & Agriculture Org. designated Haiti as one of the world's most economically vulnerable countries. ActivitiesInternational Medical Corps is deploying an Emergency Response Team to Haiti. We need your help to start providing medical care and other emergency services as soon as possible.
