More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

The proposed dam will flood the 12,000 year-old UNESCO-nominated town of Hasankeyf & more than 300 other unexplored archaeological sites, displace up to 78,000 people, mainly Kurds, & will destroy the Tigris-Euphrates’ ecosystems, causing a huge cultural, social & environmental catastrophe & causing a severe reduction of the flow of water to the downstream states of Iraq & Syria.

Activities

KHRP produces detailed research & fact-finding missions on the impact of the Ilısu Dam & trainings & publications for local advocates. Through open dialogue & raising awareness KHRP helps civil society groups to speak out.
