Bernard

Malawi has one of the highest national HIV prevalence rates in the world. Act4Africa enables communities to develop their capacity for delivery of a HIV/AIDS Education Project through a network of trained volunteers. Bernard is a Malawian who has been working with us in Lilongwe, Malawi, for the last 12 months. Since 2009 he's helped train 60 trainers who will reach over 20,000 Malawians in their own communities. Teaching Malawians how to stay safe, as well as reducing the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS.

The “HIV/AIDS education for 20,000 Malawians” goal is to raise £1,500 to enable Bernard to train a further 60 trainers over the next 12 months and aim to reach at least another 20,000 Malawian lives. “HIV/AIDS education for 20,000 Malawians” project has received £825 which from the 1st of July 2010 which means that Bernard has been able to commence actively planning and manage his training programme.

The future of Bernard and the work of Act4africa sees the goal of changing 20,000 lives, challenging cultural behaviour amongst Malawian locals and helping to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS through increased knowledge. The future also sees the further £675 required to enable Bernard’s successful work for the whole year!

Act4Africa and Bernard would like to thank all the donors and supporters of the “HIV/AIDS education for 20,000 Malawians” lets go on changing lives together!
