HIV/AIDS education for 20,000 Malawians
More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesMalawi has one of the highest national HIV prevalence rates in the world. Act4Africa enables communities to develop their capacity for delivery of a HIV/AIDS Education Project through a network of trained volunteers. Bernard is a Malawian who has been working in Lilongwe, Malawi, for the last 12 months. To date he's helped train 60 trainers who will reach over 20,000 Malawians in their own communities. Teaching Malawians how to stay safe, as well as reducing the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS. ActivitiesAct4Africa's innovative HIV/AIDS Education Programme is facilitated through performance arts, sports and workshops in schools and communities. The Programme challenges cultural norms, encourages behavioural change and reduces the stigma of HIV/AIDS. Funding InformationTotal Funding Received to Date: £925 Funding InformationThis project is now in implementation and no longer available for funding. Received funds will be used to accomplish concrete objectives as indicated in the project's "Activities" section. Updates will be posted under the "Progress Report" tab as they become available. Donors' contributions and pledges to this project totaled £925. The original project funding goal was £1,500.
