Constructing Bathrooms for Girls in Rural Uganda
More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesYoung women at Nyabyeya Forestry College are sharing toilets & bathing facilities with the male students. Facilities for female students were never constructed at the College, as it was once an all-male institution. This lack of facilities means that the College has to restrict the number of female students it admits each year, despite the fact that interest in the forestry sector among young women is continually increasing and forestry is no longer considered a strictly male domain. ActivitiesThis problem can be easily addressed through the construction of separate toilets and bathing facilities for women at the College. The school has ample land for the completion of this project. Funding InformationThis project has been retired and is no longer accepting donations. Additional DocumentationThis project has provided additional documentation in a Microsoft Word file (projdoc.doc). ResourcesWhy this Project is ImportantPotential Long Term ImpactThe increased capacity of the College to cater for female students should result in a marked increase in the percentage of females within the student body in the coming years – from 30% in 2010 to 50% by 2015.
