ROKPA UK
MissionThe word Rokpa means 'help' or 'serve', in Tibetan. Our aim is to unite compassion and wisdom in our actions in order to ease the burden of people in need regardless of their religion, origin or culture, and to support them toward self-sufficiency. We seek to promote gender equality and women's empowerment by emphasising the education of girls, helping to bring about social change to address the historic gender gap in education. ProgramsROKPA provides care and education, emergency relief, health care, training in health, food, cultural and reforestation projects in Tibetan areas of China, Nepal, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. In the Tibetan regions of China ROKPA focuses on the education of orphaned or poor children (56% of which are girls) from rural and nomadic families. ROKPA gives relief to a number of Tibetan refugees in India, and supports the education in the UK of young people from the overseas projects. Current Projects on GlobalGiving
