More Information About this Project
Project Needs and Beneficiaries
Providing health care for mobile populations presents significant challenges. Their mobility results in poor continuity of care, as they are often unable to complete medical treatments. This is especially true for diseases of public health concern, like TB, that require consistent treatment often for 12 months or longer in addition to a lengthy diagnostic process. Risk of drug resistance and the spread of infection increase when diagnosis and treatment are interrupted by patient mobility.
Activities
TBNet assures successful completion of TB treatment for mobile patients through 4 major functions: Identify needed services, Monitor patients treatment status, Reinforce positive patient behavior, Providing feedback to public health providers.
Funding Information
This project has been retired and is no longer accepting donations.

Why this Project is Important
Potential Long Term Impact
TBNet demonstrates that patients can be navigated anywhere worldwide. The guarantee of continuity of care can significantly diminish the impact of migration on health, decrease lost to follow up and reduce the incidence of drug resistance.
Project Message
TBNet is to be recognized as a vital and integral part of tuberculosis work along the U.S- Mexico Border.
