Mission

Abalimi is a Volunteer Organization working to empower the disadvantaged through its organic Urban Agriculture program & projects. We support our target groups' ability to replicate their success and transform their lives in their urban and rural environments, through the following Key Result Areas: resource support; training; organisation building; facilitation of partnerships; research, monitoring and evaluation.

Programs

ABALIMI's core program supports a thriving urban Micro-Farming movement among the poor in Cape Town. This program enables the poor to grow top quality organic food while developing vibrant ecological oases, by planting indigenous floral windbreaks and borders in the arid sub-economic townships. The foundation of the program are Abalimi's two non-profit People's Garden Centres in Nyanga and Khayelitsha. Various sub-projects (eg: SEED, focusing on Environmental Education) add value to Abalimi
