Help Support Touraid!
More Information About this ProjectProject Needs and BeneficiariesChildren in disadvantaged communities all over the world play rugby and we see this as a catalyst for change. We know the benefits a tour has on these communities. We have brought children from big cities, small villages, orphanages and slums and every child returns a hero and their community benefits in a large number of ways. We have created sustainable relationships between the hosting schools and clubs and the communities abroad and we help change lives. ActivitiesTouraid takes disadvantaged children away from their daily lives to experience a different culture, in a different country and play a sport they love. The impact of the tour is huge with coaches and carers reporting increased self esteem, self belief and positive attitudes towards themselves and others in the community. The tours have lead to scholarships, improved sports facilities and recognition back home. Long term friendships are formed between the visiting and host communities. Funding InformationTotal Funding Received to Date: £227 ResourcesWhy this Project is ImportantPotential Long Term ImpactSince November 2006 Touraid has reached over 700 children from 28 nations on 50 tours to the UK Consequently host parents have provided funding for local schooling and rugby coaching. Educational and sporting supplies have been dispatched from the UK. Those returning from tours are seen as leaders in their communities and the impact of these positive role models is to draw more children to participate in rugby and associated health education schemes. Project Message
‘Their spirit and talent is incredible but what I will always remember is the obvious bond I have seen between the groups and their host families and schools. This is what rugby is about.' Who is Running This ProjectContact
