More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

This project will provide travel funding to enable a national team from Malawi to participate in the Paris 2011 Homeless World Cup from 21-28 August.

Activities

Your contribution to the Homeless World Cup will make an enormous difference for the players of this all-female team from Paraguay. Supporting them would include accommodation and documentation to and from the Paris 2011 Homeless World Cup. The tournament has a long term impact on participants – it gives them a feeling of inclusion and empowerment. It allows them not only to experience a new country, but also allows them to connect and interact with homeless people from around the world.

The Paris 2011 Homeless World Cup took place on the Champ de Mars, Paris, France from August 21st to August 28th, 2011.

64 teams from around the world stood proud in their national colours for a week in the French Capital. Scotland finally won the competition but they all went back home with the feeling that they were all winners.

All the money fundraised for each team, through the different country pages was used to make this possible and help them travel to France, whatever that may mean: either pay for their plane tickets, documentation fees, insurance, etc.

The Pages for Team Paraguay and Team Cambodia to come to Paris need to be removed as we are now heading towards a new tournament: Mexico City 2012 Homeless World Cup.
