Only 3.6% of households owns at least one computer in Kenya (Census 2009).The rural folks are mostly affected. Majority of the youth migrate to the urban areas to access computer and ICT trainings, which is costly for the poor youths. Some end up in doing odd jobs including prostitution. This project will affect 50 needy youths who reside in remote Sinyereri village on the slopes of the cherangany Hills
How will this project solve this problem?
This project provides computer & ICT skills for needy youth. The youths are trained in photography, videography and computer packages. The youths then provide computer and ICT services to the schools and institutions in the community, making a profit
Potential Long Term Impact
We will train 50 needy youth, offering them an opportunity to create jobs and wealth and ending the cycle of poverty in their families and community. They will form social and economic networks through the internet, opening up windows of opportunity
Project Message
I did not have an opportunity to proceed to university education. My hopes had been dashed until when the TYSA computer project started. I gained skills in internet use which I use to earn a living.
