Summary
Partners In Health and its sister organization Zanmi Lasante are responding to the earthquake, providing medical care in the Central Plateau, Artibonite Department, and in Port-au-Prince.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Following the earthquake, the Zanmi Lasante staff – over 100 Haitian doctors, 600 clinical personnel, and 4,000+ staff - are working to provide medical care in Port-au-Prince and in rural Haiti, where hundreds of thousands of Haitians have returned. We are providing emergency and comprehensive primary medical care in our clinics and hospitals in rural Haiti, are are working in the University Hospital and in the camps where hundreds of thousands of displaced Haitians are living in Port-au-Prince.
How will this project solve this problem?
PIH/ZL is operating medical clinics in 4 camps where displaced Haitians are living in Port-au-Prince, treating patients at our 12 clinics and hospitals in rural Haiti, & providing for long-term recovery & rehabilitation in Haiti.
Potential Long Term Impact
PIH/ZL, in conjunction with the Ministry of Health in Haiti, will strengthen the public health infrastructure to both recover from this earthquake and better serve the people of Haiti.
