This project will build a school and training centre in the town of Kumbo, Cameroon, providing a safe learning environment, experienced teachers and support services to 100 orphans living in Cameroon yearly as a sustainable project for future generations.
There are currently hundreds of orphaned and vulnerable children living in Kumbo,Cameroon, according to Self Reliance Promoters (SEREP).These children have been identified as having lost one or both parents whilst living in extreme poverty. Although SEREP works with many of these children, we desperately need our own school to provide them with a supportive learning environment.Having a school would help 100 children yearly and it would be the first of its kind in Kumbo and the surrounding area
The children would be trained in the school on basic literary and numeracy skills. They would also have the opportunity to learn vocational skills in our training centre. Above all they will have a stable, structured environment in which to flourish.
The school and training centre will be able to enrol 100 students yearly. The new premises will also provide for the wider community; the centre will provide further education opportunities for adults and act as a community empowerment meeting point.
"Illiteracy, poverty and AIDS has rendered many children in desperate need of an education. Your gift can save them from a life of hardship and integrate them into society as responsible citizens"
