Summary
This project enables our international toll free domestic violence crisis line, 866-USWOMEN, to operate 24/7 with accessibility from 175 countries to serve abused American women & children globally.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
We serve American women & children living in foreign countries who are victims of domestic violence & child abuse, via an international toll free crisis line. Crisis line advocates work with victims, empowering them to make the decisions necessary to live a life without violence for themselves & their children while navigating the complicated system that hinders them from fleeing the violence and returning to the USA. We offer counseling, relocation, housing, legal assistance & emergency needs.
How will this project solve this problem?
Every year we provide hundreds of battered American women and abused children with the information and services necessary to enable them to live their lives without violence in the foreign country or back in the USA.
Potential Long Term Impact
The project serves 500 women per year empowering them to find alternatives to a life of violence so their children grow up in violence free homes with their self-esteem in tact with the hope of stopping the cycle of violence in future generations.
Project Message
"Because of you, my son and I are safe and happy back home. There were times when I thought we might not live to see another day. I now believe in guardian angels, because God sent you to me."
