We are much obliged of your support in bringing up our "Snehalaya- the home with love" with 66 disabled and orphan or abandoned children and homeless women there. Its Foundation day was celebrated on 23rd Aug. preceded by annual sports and cultural competitions held on 22nd Aug. for children with disabilities held in presence of Prof. Bhartendu Shukla as Chief Guest, Shri Arjaria Retd. Commissioner of Gwalior and Prof. P.S. Bisen as Guests of Honour and many honourable citizens of Gwalior. Unfortunately Mayor and Collector could not attend, gave their blessings and best wishes to our children on phone, as they were called for an emergency meeting in Bhopal. Nearly 300 children from various organizations participated. Though rains interrupted the cultural programme and it had to be held inside in our central hall, it did not deter the children from their enthusiasm and colourful presentations, which were enjoyed, liked and praised by all present.
So far out of 66 residents in Snehalaya, only 45 have been sponsored. Please consider sponsoring a child there, it is only $40PM and you can do so now by setting up regular payment on this site. We also request for you visiting Snehalaya and encourage our children at your convenience and never hesitate to contact me or write to me for any questions or information on firstname.lastname@example.org Thanks a lot, with regards, BK Dr.B.K.Sharma, For GHECT and Snehalaya - Help Children of India
We are pleased to inform you that work goes on and only with your ongoing support, we are able to provide these children in Snehalaya a life with love and dignity. We hope for your continued support helping provide for these children.
We already had 63 children in Snehalaya. Now we have accepted five more girls disabled and abandoned, as transferred from Govt. run Mercy Home on 4th June. We are happy that local authorities have accepted our long pending request for not keeping girls there as these get abused and exploited there. We welcome Manisha, Rani, Sapna, Suman and Asha to our family in Snehalaya and we already see a change in their life with happiness and love they enjoy in Snehalaya. We are sure they will become independent and live happily with us contributing their part too in positive manner.
So far only 38 children have been sponsored in Snehalaya. We request you to be generous and sponsor these girls. Just $40PM or $5000 once will sponsor a disabled Orphan / abandoned child for life giving her a new life and an opportunity to live happily with dignity. Also here is an opportunity to get your donations matched incresing your help by 50%. Starting at 9AM on 12th June, Wednesday is the second GlobalGiving Bonus Day during this year, when your donation up to $1000 will be matched by 50% helping us more to provide for these children in Snehalaya. Gwalior Children’s Charity is featured in GlobalGiving UK’s "Back to School Education Appeal, 2013". When we heard that GlobalGiving.UK had chosen Snehalaya School for their “Back to School Appeal” we were thrilled! We know that a huge number of applications were submitted to GlobalGiving, that ours was chosen above others, also very important, schooling projects around the developing world was a deep honour for us.
As always we are sure of your support helping us to make this appeal succesful by donating now and as much possible to educate drop out rural girls from villages in our school. It has an added advantage if you make recurring donation before 28th March as your donation gets doubled with 100% matching by GlobalGiving.
Why do we need this? Because, our School, in India’s heartland, provides a vital link for thousands of young poor girls to lift themselves out of poverty, gain economic independence and sense of self-worth through education. There has been a lot of news and discussion recently about women in India since the death of the gang rape victim in December 2012. It has made India’s patriarchal society come under fierce criticism given the lack of compassion and action done by the Indian Government. We teach our girls, who all come from destitute and rural parts of Madhya Pradesh, India’s poor heartland, of their equal rights they have in Indian society despite the institutionalised patriarchy.
As Soutik Biswas, India’s BBC correspondence says, “clearly, many Indian women face threats to life at every stage – violence, inadequate healthcare, inequality, neglect, bad diet, lack of attention to personal health and well-being”* However, in India’s heartland, discrimination against women is worse where men can outnumber women 5 to 4 due to illegal abortions and baby killings because of “social values” according to Manmohan Singh, the Indian prime minister. In The ‘genocide’ of India’s daughters, Al Jazeera asks if the patriarchal mindset that runs across castes and class can be changed to prevent foeticide and infanticide.
We believe that by addressing inequality in education from an early age in women, they have more of a chance to manage the risks they are presented with. This includes enabling their economic, domestic, social and intellectual freedom through education.
We do hope you continue to be inspired by the work of our school and can donate towards the schooling of girls within India’s neglected and poor heartlands. Please do not hesitate to ask for any questions or further information, just write to me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank a lot for your help, with regards,

Happy holidays and best wishes for the New Year. Last message during this year and also an opportunity not to be missed, before end of the year.
The Children in Snehalaya are progressing well with 63 being there at present. We recently received the grant from Devonshire house preparatory School to build five new cottages but there is shortage for adding a new kitchen and dining hall ($45000) as required for increased number of children with us. We intend to start this building work in early next year hoping to complete before end of the year, so that we can accommodate more children there, all with your support only. Please help us to complete this project and provide for these children in snehalaya and those in surrounding villages. Please visit our web site http://www.helpchildrenofindia.org for more details where you can download or read our Souvenir 2012 too with all the news, photographs and more...

100% of funds received are used to provide for the work as per choice of the donor only. To summarise the work and choosing any part as per your preference, Snehalaya started as a care home for disabled and destitute children in 2006 and gradually has expanded since, spread out in 25 acres of land with a Gaushala, farms, gardens, orchards and bird house etc. etc. In Snehalaya we have 63 children at present with school for special needs providing total care, education and vocational training aiming to give a life with love and dignity and make them independent as much possible. We initiated a health centre in 2007 within campus from where we have been running the integrated rural development programme with emphasis on health care, awareness and health education esp. for children, women and the aged, in surrounding 43 villages, more in 17 villages (which do not have any health care or educational facilities) including hygiene, sanitation, vaccination, health education, treatment, employment and income generating opportunities for total sustainable development. We initiated a main stream school with vocational training facilities in year 2011 esp. for drop out girls from surrounding villages to get them educated and become independent getting them out of the life of oppression, they face otherwise. This will help not only them but whole community and future generations too. For lack of electricity in these villages, we also distribute solar lights to these girls facilitating their education and that helps their family too decreasing pollution and health hazards. Summary details are available on http://www.helpchildrenofindia.org You can also download our Souvenir with annual report for 2012 with updates and many photographs from here: SOUVENIR2012
We welcome volunteers from all walks of life including students and trainees to help us in this endeavour from their own place and or work with us on floor in Gwalior, India. For any questions or further information, please write to me any time at Gwalior.Hospital@care4free.net
Thanks again, with regards and best wishes, MERRY CHRISTMAS,
