As part of our effort to maintain the high quality of projects on our site, GlobalGiving regularly sends representatives into the field to visit our partner organizations and monitor the projects that are listed on GlobalGiving.
GlobalGiving representatives visited Gwalior Childrens Hospital Charity’s projects at the Snehelaya campus in India in 2015. During the visits, a number of concerns were identified, particularly with the children's home and healthcare center projects.
Due to the seriousness of the concerns raised GlobalGiving has removed Gwalior Childrens Hospital Charity from GlobalGiving's websites. This means that the organization can no longer receive donations through these platforms. Some of the concerns raised were in regards to a lack of policies and procedures to protect the organization’s constituents and employees. It should be noted that these concerns relate to the children's home, not the school on the Snehelaya campus.
Although Gwalior Childrens Hospital Charity has indeed done great work in India, GlobalGiving has taken these steps to encourage Gwalior Childrens Hospital Charity to make necessary improvements, and to ensure integrity of our vetting process.
GlobalGiving takes the site visits very seriously: we consider them a part of our vetting and review process, and require them as part of our terms and conditions for nonprofits to join the platform.
We are committed to ensuring that our donors have a meaningful giving experience on GlobalGiving. If you are unsatisfied with your donation to this project, we can offer you the GlobalGiving Guarantee. The GlobalGiving Guarantee will come in the form of a gift certificate equal to the value of the original donation, which you are invited to contribute to another project on the site.
If you have any questions or would like to invoke the GlobalGiving Guarantee please contact GlobalGiving at firstname.lastname@example.org
Deepawali, the festival of lights celebrated in Snehalaya on 11th Nov. with many guests and visitirs in Snehalaya with our children by doing Laxmi Poojan, distribution of sweets, new clothes, toys etc. and feast for them. Our children enjoyed the event. In the evening lighting was done and games were played but this year we did not do any fire works to make it environment friendly, to avoid noise pollution as well avoid accidents and injuries participating in awareness campaign as initiated by President of India for this Diwali. In stead we promised our children an additional outing this month, which they happily agreed and will enjoy more.
We are much obliged of your support helping us provide for these children giving them a new life with an opportunity to live with dignity and become insependent. New multipurpose hall is almost ready now, thanks to funds raised by pupils, parents, staff and charity committee of Devonshire preparatory School with support of Dr. Neil Sikka but we need another $50000 to furnish and equip it to make it usable as an indoor sports facility, to hold cultural events as well as a dining hall for daily needs. We request this time of the year and for this Christmas to help us complete it by donating as much possible for you to make it happen.
As you know we use 100% of funds received only for the work as per choice of donors/sponsors. All admin exppenses are met by trustees by their own contributions. Please convey to all your friends and family members about our project - share the link on your blogs or social networks, use the tell-a-friend feature on the project page to email your network, or just bring us up in conversation. We are much obliged for your support by helping us in bringing this work to this stage and carry it further. We continue with our children in Snehalaya educating and training them. From 5th to 10th March we celebrated Holi the festival of colours, but using only flowers making it environment friendly, not using any water to set an example for others. On 10th March Rang Panchami, concluding day of Holi festival, was celebrated as Sava Dharnm Milan Samaroh when leaders of various religions joined us in Snehalaya.
I am pleased to inform that on 15th May 2015, I was honoured by JCI Club of Gwalior recognising our ongoing work in Gwalior and received the award at the hands of Mayor of Gwalior Mr. Vivek Shejwalkar in presence of members of JCI and many dignitories of Gwalior. Though I received the award but real owners are our volunteers and supporters like you as well our staff and children in our school & Snehalaya. Our volunteers are working in Nepal and states of Bihar and UP providing medical care, counselling and helping in relief works following two devastaing earthquakes there. Thanks for your help in providing for disabled orphan children in Snehalaya at Gwalior. I will like to inform you with some recent activities in our "Snehalaya, meaning the Home with Love in Hindi".
Vasant Panchami celebrated in Snehalaya by doing Saraswati Pooja, Hawan, Yagya followed by feast including sweet yellow rice for our children and staff while sweet rice as prasad distributed to all attendees following Aarti.
Republic day celebrated in Snehalaya with flag hoisting at same time when Mr. Barrack Obama, President of USA did so in Delhi. There was thick fog around. We cancelled all cultural programmes in honour of Sr. Meenoo, a resident in Snehalaya since 2008, who unfortunately left us on the day after a long stay in hospital. Shradhanjali and tributes paid to her in stead.
Also fifteen of us participated in Mumbai Marathon on 18th Jan.2015 raising nearly twelve laks for children of Snehalaya and to educate girls from surrounding villages there. Thank you all supporters, donors and fellow runners.
Christmas celebrations followed by New Years gala dinner enjoyed by our children in Usha Kiran Palace Hotel, only five star hotel in Gwalior, annual event for our children. This year winters have been very cold comparatively but now it is getting over.
We are much obliged of your support helping us to provide for these 62 children there. Please consider to sponsor one by regular payment of just $50PM, which will provide food, home, clothes, education, medicines and training to a disabled orphan child there as well will help us to plan the outlay for future. Also please spread the word and recommend to all your friends, associates, colleagues and relatives. Please do not hesitate to write to me for any questions or further information on firstname.lastname@example.org
