Seva Mandir helps rural villages to come together and address issues of their day to day life. The village development committee collects and channelizes the funds for the overall development of the village.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
The local rural communities often face the problem of lack of access of government's schemes and are left out in the process of development. This keeps them backward and hinders their growth. Seva Mandir's Village Development Committees focuses on needs of resources and entitlements of the poor and marginalized section of the community. Currently we have 541 Village Development Committees helping about 50,000 people in developing their lives.
How will this project solve this problem?
Formation of Village Development Institutions and funds will ensure that the villagers are aware of the immediate problems and can channelize a tangible solution to the problem. The village institute also brings together the villagers and evokes the spirit to togetherness.
Potential Long Term Impact
The communities will be self reliant in managing their resources and addressing their problems. Also, they will be endowed with higher bargaining power to collaborate, negotiate and come up with a solution.
