Summary
We use football to energise and empower people who are homeless or excluded to change their own lives. The Homeless World Cup Foundation supports grass roots football development programmes in 74 nations triggered by the Homeless World Cup, an established international football tournament.
This is the one page where you can support the Homeless World Cup Foundation and help us carry on reaching out to thousands of homeless people throughout the world.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
There are one billion of homeless people in our world today That is one in 7 of us.
Homelessness can force people into isolation, which affects their ability to share, communicate their thoughts and work with others. Day-to-day survival needs take priority over longer term planning - often resulting in a chaotic lifestyle.
How will this project solve this problem?
The Homeless World Cup Foundation uses the power of football to attract homeless people and offer them the chance to change their lives.
When a homeless person gets involved in football they communicate and build relationships with others; they become teammates, learning to trust and share; they have a responsibility to attend training sessions and games, to be on time and prepared to participate. They feel part of something.
Potential Long Term Impact
Through our network of 74 partners, we reach out to thousands of people every year. But that's not enough! If we want to tackle the global issue that is homeless, we need to get more people involved so more homeless people get their lives changed for the better!
Project Message
"Everybody needs to wake up in the morning with a goal. That is the main thing. The Homeless World Cup brings this opportunity, to go training, to change your life."
- Eric Cantona, Ambassador, Homeless World
