GlobalGiving is an online fundraising platform designed to help organisations all over the world raise funds to support their projects. In addition to our large network of individual donors and corporate sponsors, we also offer organisations a unique set of online tools and trainings to help manage and grow their funding networks. Learn more about the different resources and benefits available to organisations through our site below.

GlobalGiving’s Reputation

Since 2002, GlobalGiving has put an emphasis on maintaining a strong reputation among donors and non-profit organisations. Donors, partners, and corporations know that we carefully vet the organisations whose projects are posted on our site and their donations are safe with GlobalGiving (GlobalGiving UK is a registered charity number 1122823).

By becoming a member of GlobalGiving’s prestigious network, your organisation is benefitting from GlobalGiving’s world-renowned reputation.

GlobalGiving’s Network

Over £22 million has now been raised for 2,800 projects, across GlobalGiving’s US and UK websites. GlobalGiving.co.uk launched in the UK in September 2008, and the website has been averaging 300,000 annual unique visitors meaning each project has a chance to be found and supported many individuals wishing to support non-profit projects.

Online Fundraising Platform

The online platform forms the base of your GlobalGiving presence and interaction with potential donors.

Online Donation Processing: GlobalGiving makes it easy for donors to make donations to your organisation online using a variety or debit and credit cards and PayPal.

Donation Manager: GlobalGiving manages all of your organisation’s donations and compiles the information in an easy-to-use donation manager, which shows you who donated, how much, and how they found your organisation online.

Project Reports: Keep your donors connected by simply submitting a project report through GlobalGiving!  After you submit a brief report about your project’s recent activities and accomplishments, GlobalGiving sends it as an email to all your previous donors. This makes it easy for you to ensure that all of your donors receive your updates. No messy mail merge or listservs!

Customised Thank You’s: Organisations can send customised thank you emails to each of their donors using a branded email through GlobalGiving’s donation manager.

Gift Aid: All donations made through GlobalGiving are eligible for Gift Aid (even when you are supporting projects outside the UK). As a registered UK charity, GlobalGiving vets all organisations and then claims Gift Aid on each organisation's behalf. If donors are UK tax payers, all they need to do is let us know at the donation check out and we will claim an extra 25% on top of their donation without any hassle for the non-profit.

Online Fundraising Tools

GlobalGiving’s Widgets help you promote your project on your organisation’s homepage, blog or social network.  One click takes donors directly to your project page so they can donate. Email tools and widgets make it easy to share your fundraiser with support networks, family, and friends.

GlobalGiving Fundraisers: GlobalGiving makes it easy for you to turn your organisation’s supporters into active advocates. Encourage your donors to use GlobalGiving fundraiser pages to raise money for your GlobalGiving projects. Supporters can use Fundraisers to set their own fundraising goals and reach out to their own networks on your behalf! Learn how to create a fundraiser. We also have a new partnership with JustGiving so if you supporters already use JustGiving to fundraise they can now support your projects on GlobalGiving through JustGiving too!

Volunteers: GlobalGiving has created a new and innovative Online Volunteering programme called GlobalGivingTime, which allows people to share their skills and time with your project and organisation remotely. They will do this by completing online tasks for you such as advice and support on technical issues, tips on marketing and fundraising strategy, help with graphic design and many more. This will help to create ongoing relationships between your organisation and the wider public.

Tribute Cards: Did you know that your donors can give a donation to your organisation as a gift to a family member of friend using GlobalGiving’s e-Tribute cards? This is a great way to promote giving to your organisation for holidays, birthdays, and special occasions!

Gift Cards: GlobalGiving Gift Cards let someone give the gift of giving - the recipient gets to decide to which project they would like to allocate their donation. Gift Cards are available as convenient e-cards and can even be printed at home! Check out gift cards here.

Gift Registries: A donor can create a gift registry for any occasion — a wedding, birthday, or anniversary — or simply to generate support for projects like yours. A GlobalGiving registry is a list of "gifts" that they would like to receive, but in this case, the gift is actually a donation to your project.

Mission Fish:  GlobalGiving partners with MissionFish to make it easy for eBay sellers to give proceeds from their sales to nonprofits.  GlobalGiving partners with MissionFish to allocate funds to various active projects.

Training Sessions: GlobalGiving offers trainings that teach your organisation how to use GlobalGiving’s site effectively, conduct outreach to your donors, and develop effective fundraising strategies.

Corporate Partnerships

At GlobalGiving, we work with corporate organisations like Google, Expedia, eBay, Merrill Lynch and the Guardian, to name just a few. We help companies make the most of their philanthopic and CSR goals. We work in innovative ways with companies to help them give directly to great grassroots projects like yours:

  1. Employee giving programs: Corporate employees give through GlobalGiving’s site to GlobalGiving partner projects. In the UK we have enabled Guardian News and Media Staff to give directly to a number of projects on GlobalGiving using globalgiving.co.uk's online tools and employee giving pages.
  2. Project Identification: We help corporate organisations to find projects that match their interests around the world. For example, eharmony.co.uk gave generously to two projects partnered with GlobalGiving that matched their company's values.
  3. Gift card programs: Corporations purchase gift cards to give out to their partners and employees. Yahoo! have been giving GlobalGiving gift cards to their global employees for a number of years now. Each employee can then visit the GlobalGiving website and choose how to spend the corporate donation and see the progress of the project.

Media Outreach

In the past large media enterprises have taken on the task of spreading the word about GlobalGiving. GlobalGiving.co.uk has been highlighted in the Guardian, The Financial Times, The BBC and The Telegraph, among others. To see some of our coverage visit our Media Room.

Social Media Outreach

GlobalGiving reaches out to perspective donors through our social media network using Twitter and Facebook. This helps us to promote GlobalGiving and the projects that we partner with. We are also involved in social media events, for example we are co-hosting a workshop with 77agency for 'Social Media Week' to promote the use of social media in the non-profit sector.

GlobalGiving USA

GlobalGiving.org is GlobalGiving’s sister site in the US. It can help your organisation activate your US based supporters and networks. All the same great benefits but donations are made in US Dollars and donations made by US tax payers are tax deductable.

Fee Structure

Nonprofit organisations are welcome to join and use GlobalGiving free of charge. As a UK charity, GlobalGiving wants to ensure that the maximum amount of funds get to the field, whilst also being open about the fact that there are costs to cover. To that end, we use 10% of each gross donation (that is donation plus any Gift Aid) towards vetting organisations, processing donations, credit card and wiring costs. Of the 10%, 6% is typically used to cover the cost of providing your organisation with an online fundraising platform and training services, the cost of the direct money transfer to your project regardless of its location in the world, and the process of claiming Gift Aid, while 4% is used to help us run our small team operation costs.
