Safe care and adoption for Indian Babies

Thank you so much for your support for children awaiting adoption in India, it means the world to them and us. We are pleased to report an exciting new development for orphans living in our care.

The children living in our Rehabilitation Center, a government-registered childcare institution, come from a range of backgrounds and many are orphans or semi-orphans. We are fully committed to working in the best interests of each individual child to find the best family-based solution for them. Our home currently has around 200 children and among them are 14 children who have recently been declared legally free for adoption.

This involved doing an intense search for their birth families and while these have not been found it does offer new hope for the children of being placed in adoptive families. While our adoption center shelters children from 0 to 6, these children range in age from 6 to 18 and they are now registered in the government CARA system.

While demand for babies outweighs those waiting to be placed we are hopeful that some families will consider adopting our older children. However, in a recent report to India’s Supreme Court CARA stated that 70% of prospective adoptive parents prefer to adopt children under the age of 2 with less than 6% ready to adopt children over the age of 6.

Our mission is to promote their cause in the hope that families facing a longer wait for babies can be convinced to open their homes and arms to older children, equally in need of a loving family. There is a long way to go and we would appeal to you to help us spread the word of our older children eagerly awaiting the love of family.
