Building Plans for the First Floor of the ALC
Building Plans for the First Floor of the ALC

Amidst the political turbulence in Niger and West Africa, the girls at the Agadez Learning Center remain focused on their long-term goals and continue to advance in their studiesIn class and study sessions, they are building essential skills in core subjects like math, French, chemistry, and physics.

Now, more than ever, access to education and the basic goods needed to focus on their studies (ex. safe drinking water, nutritious food, electricity to study in the evenings, etc.) are a lifeline foryouthworking to build a brighter future. Seeing our students’ dogged commitment reminds our team that they are the next generation of leaders -- their education today helps shape a better tomorrow. Our team is dedicated to expanding the center to ensure that even more rural and nomadic girls have access to the education they deserve.

In Niger, we’ve collaborated closely with local architects and masons to refine building plans and tailor them to fit the needs of RAIN's students and staff. Community and student feedback is essential, ensuring plans align effectively with their needs for years to come. The design harnesses traditional earthen construction techniques for a more sustainable and climate-resilient expansion, crucial in Agadez's desert environment. Robust earth walls and strategically positioned windows optimize natural ventilation, maintaining comfortable internal temperatures year-round without the need for costly cooling systems.

The layout supports growth by adding additional dormitory, bathroom, and shower facilities while augmenting the center’score gathering spaces. Designed to incorporate communal spaces for learning and dining, the building will accommodate growth without sacrificing essential communal areas where the girls gather.

These plans were developed collaboratively, and the collective excitement surrounding these plans—from students and parents to the ALC Director and the dedicated kitchen staff—underscores the significance of this project for girls in the Agadez region.Amidst nationwide economic challenges and record-breaking inflation, time is of the essence. We've worked diligently alongside local architects and craftsmen to navigate evolving material and labor costs. The sooner we secure the necessary funds, the sooner we can provide these girls with the environment they deserve to pursue their dreams and contribute to a brighter future for their country.

Please consider giving today and share this initiative with friends and family who might be inspired to give alongside you. Your generous support empowers rural and nomadic girls to continue their education and build a stronger, more resilient future. They believe in themselves, and they deserve the chance to show us what they can accomplish
